You will do Greater Works

Today’s Scripture: “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. John4:12 (NKJV)

Many of us are socialized to believe that we have to follow the footsteps of our parents. We have been told that “it’s a family thing” or “you are a chip off the old block “or “the tree does not fall from the root.” or “you are just like your mother or father.”

However Jesus Christ himself, who is our heavenly Daddy, tells us different, He says that we will do greater works than our heavenly father…we just have to believe in him. So ladies if we can do greater works than Jesus Christ did while He was on earth we can also do greater than our earthly parents. The Lord has empowered us with power, potential and tools that way surpass our wildest imaginations. Therefore do not allow yourself or anyone else to limit you. God has a unique plan for each of us and while it is good for us to have role models and mentors, we should strive to be greater than them.

1^st Corinthians 2:9 tells us that “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” Therefore our parents and mentors are placed in our lives to guide us and show us the path but we were made to exceed what they have achieved.

Judy Garland puts it like this “Always be a first rate version of yourself and not a second rate version of someone else.” So ladies, aim for the highest, shoot for the stars and make your own mark. Your parents and mentors will be proud of you for it.

Father we thank you for being our heavenly Daddy and we thank you for our parents that have gone ahead of us and paved the way, but Lord help us to do greater works and to realize the potential that you have placed in us.
