It Is Never Too Late

“It is never too late to be what you might have been.” George Eliot

The former Mau Mau freedom fighter who is recorded in the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest person to enter primary school made this quote true. Kimani N’gan’ga Maruge was 84 when he first went to school. When Maruge was a little boy he did not have the opportunity for a free education as such when the Kenyan government announced free primary education for all in 2002, Maruge went to his local primary school and demanded to be admitted. The teacher refused him several times but because of his determination she admitted him. Despite opposition from officials and parents who did not think it appropriate for him to be learning alongside six year olds, Maruge learned to read before he died. His inspiration was a letter he got from the government that he wanted to read himself and to read and understand the Bible.

Ladies what did you want to do that you never got to do? Maybe the opportunity did not present itself when you were younger or maybe you had to choose another path such as having children etc.

The next question is what are you going to use as your inspiration to be what you might have been?

As the quote above says it is never too late to be what you might have been. My encouragement to you today is to be what you might have been. Yes there may have been a delay in you starting but here is an opportunity to become what you want to be. Maybe you wanted to get a university education or learn to read like Maruge. Maybe you wanted to take a cooking class or start a cooking class. Maybe you want to start a business or do more at your church. Maybe you want to write a book or read a book. Whatever it is that you want to do start doing it now.

Because Maruge was determined to start reading a film called First Grader was made based on his story. He was recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest man to enter primary school. He was invited to the United Nations in New York to give an address to International Leaders about the power of education and he inspired a whole new generation to go to school for the first time.

What is hinged on you becoming what you might have been? It is never too late.

Have A God Filled Day Ladies

Let’s Pray

Lord thank you today for giving us the potential to be our best selves. Lord I pray that you will send an inspiration that will cause us to be what we might have been.

In Jesus Name

Amen
