Go To The Rock

Today’s Scripture: From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. Psalms 61:2

Song To Meditate On: I Go To The Rock – Whitney Houston (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cqQXURhK4M)

A rock by definition is a solid mineral material forming part of the surface of the earth and other planets. Some rocks are large, while some are small. There are also different kinds of rocks for example igneous rocks, metamorphic rocks and sedimentary rocks. Rocks are used for many different purposes such as decoration, building homes, building bridges etc.

This morning however, I want to talk to you about a different kind of rock. This is not a physical rock. This is rock is called Jesus. This is the rock that David spoke about in Psalms 61:2 when He said lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

Understand Ladies that David was overwhelmed when He prayed this prayer. In Jamaica we would say, “him did frass”. David wrote this Psalm when he was being pursued not just by His enemies but by His own son who wanted to kill him because He wanted to become king. He was going through a period where he just didn’t know what to do. It was one of those times when He was all tried out; His strength was spent so He decided to turn to the rock that was stronger than Him. He decided to turn to God, so He likened Him unto a rock where He could hide, He likened Him unto a safe place.

Today ladies I want to introduce you to this rock called Jesus:

There is healing in this rock – Whatever illness dealing with today, no matter how chronic it is, this rock is capable of healing. We are told in the book of Isaiah that by His stripes we are healed. Exodus 15:26 also says “I’m the Lord that healeth thee.” Therefore ladies your healing is in the rock, whether you’re sick emotionally or physically you can run to this rock this morning for healing.

There is provision in the rock – The Lord is our provider, many times we are in a situation where we are broke, no money, no food on the table and all we have to do is say God help me and we see our neighbor or a family member coming. That is God providing for us. Phillipians 4:19 tells us that the Lord shall supply our needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

There is peace in the rock – Are you worried? Are you feeling miserable or anxious this morning? Well the rock provides a peace that passeth all understanding. Jesus once asked His disciples which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? Whenever you are in trouble call on Jesus, He is able just put your faith in Him. He is the rock.

There is strength in the rock – When you are feeling weak remember that you can do all things through Christ who strengthen you. You just have to trust God and believe that He will pull you through. Isaiah 41:10 says fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

There is salvation in the rock – The Lord is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear? Jesus Christ was crucified between two thieves on a rugged cross on Calvary, just outside Jerusalem so that we could be saved. So that we can have an abundant life, free of pain, misery and eternal death. All you need to do today is accept His free Gift of Salvation

Have A God Filled Day Ladies

Let’s Pray,
Lord Jesus, thank you for being our rock. Thank you for being our hiding place, our peace, our provider, our strength and our salvation. As each of us go to our different places of work or school, we look to you our rock for taking us through this day
In Jesus Name
Amen
