Strength for The Journey

Today’s Scripture: Then the angel of the Lord came again and touched him and said, “Get up and eat some more, or the journey ahead will be too much for you.”  So he got up and ate and drank, and the food gave him enough strength to travel forty days and forty nights to Mount Sinai, the mountain of God.

The Prophet Elijah had served the Lord for all His life. Elijah challenged the 450 prophets of Baal and the 400 prophets of the false god Asherah to a showdown on Mount Carmel. He proved to the people that God was the one true God and ordered the people to slay the 850 false prophets. As a result Jezebel was furious with him and swore to kill him. Afraid, Elijah ran to the wilderness, sat under a broom tree, and in his despair, asked God to take his life. Instead, the prophet slept, and an angel brought him food. Strengthened, Elijah went 40 days and 40 nights to Mount Horeb, where God appeared to him in a whisper.

Like Elijah we become frustrated, depressed, tired, worn and discouraged to the point where we feel as if we want to give up or just “throw in the towel”. This kind of feeling is quite normal however, this morning I want to assure you that God will give you the additional strength needed to take you to the end of journey. Philippians 1:6 assures us that the God who started a good work in us will perfect it. Therefore if God made a promise to you, you can rest assured that the promise will be fulfilled.

God will not only fulfill the promise, He will replenish you when you become tired and weary. All you have to do is “to get up and eat some more” so you can complete the journey. All you have to do is to spend time building your faith. You build your faith by spending time in the word, “…faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17 (NKJV)

You see ladies, the enemy will place doubt in our minds so we become frustrated and feel like giving up, however the key is to ask God to give you the additional strength needed to complete the journey. Just like He strengthened Elijah with food to complete the journey, He will strengthen us with spiritual food through His Word. This Word may come when you go to church, from another person or even in your own quiet time during your morning devotions but you can rest assured that if you ask God for help He will provide an inspiration that will take you through the next phase of the journey.

Allow God to speak to you today so that you can complete the journey.

Have A God Filled Day Ladies

Let’s Pray
Father we pray today that you will speak to us through your Word, strengthen and inspire us so that we can complete this journey or this task that you have given to us. Father, we believe that your promise to us will be fulfilled.
In Jesus Name

Amen
