Main Scripture: What does it profit, my
brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save
him? James 2:14

The story is told of a fellow who was stuck on his rooftop in a
flood. He was praying to God for help. Soon a man in a rowboat came by and the
fellow shouted to the man on the roof, "Jump in, I can save you." The
stranded fellow shouted back, "No, it's OK, I'm praying to God and he is
going to save me." So the rowboat went on.
Then a motorboat came by. "The fellow in the motorboat
shouted, "Jump in, I can save you." To this the stranded man said,
"No thanks, I'm praying to God and he is going to save me. I have
faith." So the motorboat went on.
Then a helicopter came by and the pilot shouted down, "Grab
this rope and I will lift you to safety." To this the stranded man again
replied, "No thanks, I'm praying to God and he is going to save me. I have
faith."
So the helicopter reluctantly flew away.
Soon the water rose above the rooftop and the man drowned. He
went to Heaven. He finally got his chance to discuss this whole situation with
God, at which point he exclaimed, "I had faith in you but you didn't save
me, you let me drown. I don't understand why!" To this God replied,
"I sent you a rowboat and a motorboat and a helicopter, what more did you
expect?"
So many of us are like this fellow, we
pray to God for help, however when He sends it we do not recognize because it does
not come in the form we expected.
Ladies when you pray for food do not
expect God to rain manna from Heaven (truth is maybe He would because He can) but
it is more likely that He will provide an opportunity for a job instead. Therefore
do not just sit like the man in this story expecting God to literally come down
from heaven and save Him. He needed to jump in the rowboat or motorboat or grab
the rope because this was how God intended to save him.
Today’s scripture tells us quite
clearly that it profits us nothing if we have faith and we do not have works. So
ladies, God will save you for sure but do not allow the opportunities to pass
you by because you just sat by and did not take advantage of them. Like the
fellow in the story you will die for sure.
Let’s Pray,
Lord thank you for being so faithful
when we ask for your help. Teach us to discern your ways so that the
opportunities that you provide will not pass us by.
In Jesus Name
Amen
Have a God Filled Day Ladies
