I am here reflecting and thinking that
most of the plans that I made for my life somehow did not come through for some
reason or the other. A little saying from Jamaica comes to mind “while man
plan; God wipe out.” I often tell my friends that my life is really not my own
as I will be here planning like crazy but God always have something else in
store – usually better too.
I can remember in Grade nine at high school,
I decided that I was going to become an Accountant. I really loved doing
accounts so all my studies led to my first degree in accounting. I also started
the examinations to become a Chartered Accountant. Ladies, I have never ever
held an accounting job. Today I am a Project Manager, a budding writer/blogger
and a wanna be Psychologist and motivational speaker. The skills I gained from
being a Project Manager at work have been transferred to my church where I am
responsible for several projects locally and internationally. Also I believe God
has much more in store for me that have nothing at all to do with accounting.
For example when I started writing this devotional I never knew I would reach
so many persons in so many nations.
You see ladies, Isaiah 55:8-9 tells
us that God’s plans for our lives are not like our plans but they are far more superior.
As such, while we think thoughts and make plans that are probably limited to our
own finite minds, God – the one who knows all things and sees all things, our
creator – has greater plans for us. We are not capable of stretching our minds to
what God is able to do with and through us. Ephesians 3:20 tells us that God is
able to do far more abundantly than we can ask or think.
Today ladies my encouragement to you
is to plan, but allow God to establish your steps. Planning is excellent as it
keeps us from doing things haphazardly but always remember that “The
heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes
his steps.” Proverbs 16:9 (ESV). Open up your hearts to God’s perfect plan and
will for your lives today.
We may not always agree
with God’s plans but I can truly say that I am stronger, better and wiser
because of what God has done in my life. I can’t tell you that it has always been
easy accepting His plans but I can tell you that after acceding to God’s plans
(many times after kicking, screaming, justifying and arguing) my mind is always
at peace and somehow His plans usually have greater rewards than mine.
God Bless You
Let’s Pray,
Lord Jesus, Our Creator, Our friend,
thank you for your faithfulness towards us. Thank God for always looking out
for, always making a way despite our stubbornness and disobedience at times. Lord
today as we plan, we pray that you will establish our steps as we learnt today
that your plans are far superior to our tiny plans for lives. Lord take over
our lives today as we give all our plans over to you
In Jesus Name
Amen
