Shine Like Stars

Main Scripture: Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, "children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation." Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky. Philippians 2; 14-15 (NIV)

In the main scripture today, Paul was instructing the Philippians on what to do so that they could shine among the non-believers like stars in the sky. Have you ever observed the star in the sky? Do you ever notice that sky is usually very dark but you are still able to see the star sparkling despite that darkness? Do you know that the star is very far and it takes years for us to see the light of that star? Yet the star shines and illuminates the darkness.

That’s the same way we are encouraged to shine, just like a star. A star usually burns brightly. It is usually immense and radiant; as such when it shines you have no choice but to see it. Therefore what Paul is trying to tell us is that like a star each of us has the power to stand out as Children of God. Each of us have the power to live good and morally upright lives despite the fact that we are in a world that is full of corruption, dishonesty and immorality.
My Pastor usually tells us that, “greatness lies within all of us.” Therefore if you are going through a period in your life where it seems so dark and you are tempted to give up. Remember today that you are a star; you can be the best at whatever you do. Whether it is living life as a Christian, raising your children, being a leader or being a wife. You have the potential to be great and to be successful at what you do. The challenges you face don’t have to kill you or to abort your destiny.

In order to shine:

1.   Ask God to show you how to shine – In Jeremiah 33:3 the Lord said ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’

2.   Believe in yourself – Know that despite all the challenges that you are facing you are able to surpass all of them and become the best you can be. The Lord made us all over comers. 1 John 5:4 tells us “that for everyone born of God overcomes the world”

3.   Read good and research information that will help you to gain knowledge about whatever you need to overcome.

Ladies be encouraged today that the pressure of this life does not have to overtake you. Like Paul said, “you will shine among them like stars in the sky.”

Let’s Pray,

Lord Jesus, thank you for another day where we can shine like stars. Lord we thank you that we can call on you and that you will reveal to us the mysteries of this world. Reveal to us today the secrets that we need in order to shine. As your word reminds us we are over comers because we are born of you, help us to receive this word and to capture it with all our hearts. Open up doors for us and help us to be different from this world so that our lights may shine.

In Jesus Name

Amen
