“Me-Time”

Main Scripture: Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth 3 John1:2

In today’s world we are so caught up with being busy with our careers, family, friends and ministry that we never find time to do something for ourselves that we enjoy. “Me time” is defined by the Free Online Dictionary as “the time a person has to himself or herself, in which to do something for his or her own enjoyment.”

As indicated by the definition “me-time” is something that you enjoy. For me I really enjoy reading a good novel, spending time with my family and friends or visiting a nature or historic place. I have a friend who loves a good long soak in the bath tub and others who enjoy retail therapy (shopping). No matter what it is, it should be something you enjoy and it should beneficial you and no one else. Taking “me-time” will eventually benefit others.

There is a song entitled by BRUNO MARS - THE LAZY SONG LYRICS that says,
Today I don't feel like doing anything
I just wanna lay in my bed
Don't feel like picking up my phone, so leave a message at the tone'
Cause today I swear I'm not doing anything
Nothing at all, nothing at all

This young man understands the meaning of “me-time”. “Me-time” can be spent doing nothing at all or something as simply indulging in a slice of cheese cake. It can be an activity that lasts all day for example a day at the spa or an activity that takes a few minutes. What ever it is, enjoy it and do not feel guilty about it as it can be very beneficial to your health and well-being and can be quite empowering. Ladies if you don’t take care of yourself, you cannot take care of others.

Finding time to do something for yourself that you enjoy can:

·         Reduce Stress – “Me-time is used to release the pressures off your mind and to de-stress. All of us from time to time have situations that stress us. Spending “me-time” allows you to forget about the situation for a while so that you can recoup and re strategize.

·         Rejuvenate (Recharge those batteries) – Spending “me-time” helps you feel better about yourself which results in you feeling revived and refreshed to refocus and face your challenges.

·         Maintain healthier relationships – Sometimes when we are overwhelmed and stress we can become very harsh, miserable or anxious. These emotions can result in people becoming hurt. As such taking time out to de-stress will help to maintain healthier relationships.

This maybe hard at first because knowing that you have a lot of things to do can cause you to feel guilty especially if you are very caring. However, remember that stress can lead to you becoming sick or even die, as such if you really want to be here to take care of the ones you love take some “me- time”

Let’s Pray

Lord God, thank you for our minds, bodies and spirits. Father I pray that you  will help to take time to care for ourselves so that we may be able to care for other like you have commanded us.

In Jesus Name

Amen

Have a God Filled Day Ladies
