Establishing Boundaries

Boundaries as defined by the Webster dictionary is something that indicates or fixes a limit or extent. Boundaries usually indicate how far you can go. For example a fence around a property marks the boundary of that property. In the same way that properties have boundaries to mark where they stop, we need to establish boundaries in our everyday lives. These boundaries can be physical, spiritual, emotional, sexual or even intellectual. It is very important for us to learn when to say yes or no in order to live successful and comfortable lives. Boundaries define you as an individual and help others to understand how to act around you.

Ladies we have to purposefully set definite starting and stopping points for our lives. They are set to help us keep our priorities straight and our lives balanced. We have to set them for our marriages, children and businesses. If we do not do this we will find that our lives will always be in frenzy and sometimes we are not able to achieve the goals that we set.

Simple boundaries we can set are cut off times for answering the phone so we can spend time with God and our families or catch upon on our sleep. Also, we can set boundaries on the amount of time we use to help people. We should not live our lives selfishly but it is also important not to get burnt out as such it is important to set aside time to replenish ourselves. Boundaries should also be set on how much time you spend at work versus at home with your families.

God has prescribed many boundaries for our lives in the Bible. For example Proverbs 15: 1 sets a boundary for anger, “a soft answer turns away wrath.” Colossians 4:6 tells us that our speech should always be gracious and seasoned with salt. This is a good starting point for setting boundaries for our lives.

Ask God today to give you wisdom in setting boundaries for your life. You might be feeling frustrated about your job, a relationship or your marriage. Maybe you did not set the right boundaries or those boundaries have been crossed. Prayerfully assess yourself and your situation and ask God to help you to set realistic and important boundaries to get control of your life today.

Have A God Filled Day Ladies

Let’s Pray,

Heavenly Father, we give our lives to you afresh today. We come to you today to ask you to search us and help us to set boundaries so that we can have balanced and successful lives. Help us to live according to the boundaries you have prescribed in your Word.

In Jesus Name

Amen
