Moving Forward

Main Scripture: Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:12-14

Today’s scripture is my absolute favorite in the Bible. It is my favorite because Paul is being real with the Philippians. Here he opens up his self a bit to let them know that like us all, he has imperfections, he explained that he had not attain His goal but he does not allow the things he did in the pass to prevent him from moving ahead. They did not prevent him from reaching for his goal.

On my personal journey as a Christian, I hold on to this scripture. It is real for me because like many, I have made numerous mistakes, I have slipped and fell but I am resolved in my mind that I will not look back. I will not let my mistakes, my imperfections or my past stop me from completing this journey successfully. Like Paul I will press, I will strain, I hold on, I will fight but I must win this prize.

If you should read the next verse Paul calls this mature thinking, too often we allow our past and our mistakes to stop us from doing what we are called to do. Too often we live a life of condemnation because we have yielded to temptations allowing the condemnation to prevent our blessings instead of dusting ourselves off and trusting God to keep us from falling another time.
Ladies I want to remind you that there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, absolutely none (Romans8:1). Christ does not condemn us, it is us that condemn ourselves and allow the things that we did in the pass to shackle us but the Word also tells us that who the son sets free is free indeed.(John 8:36). Walk into your freedom.

I also want us to apply this concept to our regular lives, to our marriages, to growing our children, to our businesses. Jean Driscoll once said that “a champion is someone who has fallen off the horse a dozen times and gotten back on the horse a dozen times.  Successful people never give up.” They get up brush themselves off and try again.

Ladies, don’t look back, move forward at all times have your eyes set like flint on the prize ahead. It is said that what does not kill you makes you stronger. If it means that you have to cry, cry. If you have to pray harder, pray harder. If you have to take a time out, take a time out but never look back or quit. Keep moving forward no matter what, you will get there.

Have A God Filled Day Ladies

Let’s Pray,

Almighty God, our loving Father, strengthen us Lord on this journey call life. Help us Lord never to quit, though temptations come and we may yield, help us not to quit. Though challenges and obstacles come, help us to overcome them. Remove every condemning and doubtful thought from our minds God. We bless your name and thank you.

In Jesus Name

Amen
