You are Resilient

Main Scripture:  A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Eph 6:10 (NIV)

Song to Meditate On: Yet Still I Rise – Yolanda Adams (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3b3TqoE7te4)

“Resilience is the ability to find the inner strength to bounce back from a set-back or challenge”

Ladies this morning I want to remind you that you are resilient. The Lord is our strength and He is faithful to take us through hard times and trials.

How To Be Resilient in Hard Times:

1. Have faith in God – David, a man who understood hard times was a man of resilience. Though his enemies tried to slay him, though he had to run and hide He had faith in God. David leaned on God and look to him for wisdom and direction. During his time of trials He described God as his strength, his song (defense), his salvation, his light, his rock, his fortress, his deliverer etc. Like David, have faith in God; allow Him to take you through the trials that you are going through. There is a little song that says "faith in God can move a mighty mountain, faith in God can calm a trouble sea, faith in God can make a desert like a fountain, faith can bring the victory"

2. Embrace change - Charles Darwin once observed that “it’s not the strongest species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the most responsive to change." Sometimes if we are able to accept that change is the only constant in life we would not be so stressed. The apostle Paul once told us that He has learned to be content in whatever the circumstances (Phil 4:11-13). Understand that some change is inevitable and you are not always going to see the good in the beginning; however ask God to give you His peace so that you can be content.

3. Look for opportunities in your disappointments - Your boss might have told you that He is cutting down your days because of the economic crises, this could be the opportunity to start your own business or to volunteer so that you can gain experience for your new career.  Winston Churchill reminds us that “A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.

4. Remain positive - Maintain a positive attitude no matter what comes your way. Once you have a vision, keep your eye on in, be determined to win. Tell yourself that you are in it to win it.

5. Laugh it off – “Laughter is the best medicine” is an old saying but it is always good to laugh even when you are going through hard times. Also learn to laugh at yourself; taking life too seriously will only make the situation worst.

6. Get rid of the negative forces - Get rid of the gossipers and naysayers. Surround yourself with people who encourage you and will point you in the right direction.

Have A God Filled Day Ladies

Let’s Pray,
Lord Jesus thank you for being our strength, thank you for being our rock, our strong tower, our defense and our fortress. Father as we embark on today we pray that you will lead us and guide us, cause us to be resilient although challenges might come our way. Lord we pray that you will show us the doors that open when one closes, help us to be positive and remove every negative force from our lives.

In Jesus Name

Amen
